It was always my desire to catch this movie when it hit theaters, but the gods of parenthood and life-in-general wouldn’t hear of it. On a whim, it premiered on cable this past weekend. BFam and I caught up on movies over the weekend. Before heading to the drive-in (yes, they still exist), we watched what has now become my favorite comedic movie this summer. Growing up, I was a big fan of The Wizard of Oz. I don’t know a lot of children who weren’t. Songs and pretty colors wrapped up in a package of fantasy and whimsy. It was crack for kids. As I got older, the magic of the movie never lost its power with me. It, and it’s sister version, The Wiz, are still my all-time favorite musicals. It’s surprising to me that more kids these days don’t watch it and love it.
