That’s me with the pocket protector.

Download Day 2008No one ever admits they’re a geek. Throughout their academic years, geeks are beat up. Geeks get wedgies. Geeks have their underwear strewn up a flag pole. Geeks get stuffed in their lockers. Geeks get thrown in huge garbage cans in the lunchroom cafeteria. Geeks have it rough. My restless mind kept me out of the class of Geekdom. I could never concentrate on one subject long enough to break down it’s theories or molecular structure. Who had the time when that butterfly over there is moving at the speed of light past the dandelion and Ooh! I wonder who’s running on the track at this hour and Hey! the sky is really blue today and I bet it will rain later today did I pack my umbrella because I don’t want my hair to get wet and I’d better remember to call the salon to make an appointment because School Picture Day is coming up and I wonder if I can wear open toe shoes and GAWD! I hate my toes.

See how the whole nerd theory eluded me? If you ever wonder whether the above scenario is how my brain really works, let me tell you… are those police sirens outside? I wonder if something happened because I remember this one time when I was in Columbus and I was driving down the street and this lady was… oh! Yeah, right, geeks. Sorry.

So, I’m not a geek. Space cadet? Maybe. I have pretty blond moments for a Black girl. I admit my flaws. This doesn’t mean I don’t have geek-like tendencies. I will never run a major corporate computer monopoly, yet I can admire from afar. I like computer software. I like new and shiny. I like bells and whistles. I like anything which causes my right brain to look at all the pretty colors while my left brain is figuring out quantum physics. Enter Firefox 3.

Yes. Go ahead. Ooh and aah if you’d like, but it’s 10:00a EST - the promised time of launch for their self-proclaimed Download Day - and I have yet to see a big green button giving me the go-ahead to ruin my day with the chance to poke around in what is only going to be the BESTEST THING EVER! Trust me. I downloaded the Beta while in test phases and awwww-suh-hummm.

So here’s my due diligence. I took the pledge to download among millions and, if you aren’t a Firefoxer, may I ask why not? You’re wasting your life on anything else. Seriously.

And, no, they didn’t pay me to say that.

[Editor's Note: OK, so I'm a noob and, apparently, illiterate. That would be 10:00a PST making it 1:00p EST. SHASTA!]
